APPA – Atlas of Heritage and Active Landscape is the operational programme to populate AtlasFor with the ‘Guest’s Tale’ and the ‘Visitor’s Gaze’. The aim is to illustrate 5,000 points of interest of the Heritage and 5,000 of the Active Landscape, for the first time legible in their interactions and connected by itineraries.
In the first phase of the programme, the focus is on cultural heritage, on the diffuse emergencies present in the context of UNESCO-qualified assets (the surroundings of ‘Heritage List’ sites, MAB, Creative Cities) and the main historical routes (Roman and Francigena). More than 50 areas encompassing a third of Italy and more than half of the major cultural assets, showcased to promote the heritage, valuable activities and services of the lesser-known but valuable part of the list, for a better distribution of tourist flows and a diffusion of the effects of the polarisation of the Listed Assets.
In 2018, the APPA programme was included among the initiatives for the European Year of Heritage, and covered the context areas of the UNESCO sites and the Ligurian and Piedmontese historical routes, namely:
- of the Savoy Residences
- of the Langhe Roero and Monferrato wine hills;
- of the Sacred Mountains;
- of the pile-dwelling sites;
- of the Mabs of the Po;
- the Vie Francigene (Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta).
- of the Palazzi dei Rolli in Genoa;
- of the 5 Terre;
- of the Via Aurelia (Ligurian);
About 300 places in the areas of Piedmont and Liguria are already located in AtlasFor, with an initial selection of points of interest for which we propose local stakeholders to collect materials for the documentation files of their heritage and activities.
Are you interested in heritage and places in Liguria, Piedmont or Valle d’Aosta?
Do you have documentary materials and stories to make them known to everyone?
Answer the CALL, register and learn from the tutorial the few rules for becoming an author of POI files. You will be provided with a personal AtlasFor archive, which you will be able to organise as you wish, with your photos combined with others already inserted, making it a private travel notebook.
In addition, AtlasFor offers a special service to the actors of the ‘Active Landscape’, providers of services for accommodation, typical productions, initiatives for the enhancement of local identities: a tab with a NEWS window is dedicated to them, where thanks to an application developed by us you can automatically enter the ‘events’ (exhibitions, events, evenings etc.) published on their Facebook pages. It is a showcase of activities that participates in forming a calendar of the area in which they operate, which is always up-to-date (see tutorial).
For Liguria, Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta, local stakeholders are selecting around 300 activities of interest that will be invited to participate, broken down by theme:
- museums, ecomuseums and parks
- installations and contemporary art initiatives;
- initiatives for the quality of the tangible and intangible landscape;
- initiatives to enhance assets with cultural activities and performing art;
- Connecting Smart City initiatives (sharing, innovative territorial functions, soft mobility, etc.);
- production activities and services for the Green Society;
- initiatives and services for landscape quality receptivity;
- quality rural production and services activities.
See in the CALL section the maps of the initiatives invited for the ‘Turin Recent Architecture’ and ‘Monviso Cycleway’ dossiers.
